Brian House & CASCADE forms an
integral part of Trinity
Palliative Care Services, caring for children with life - limiting or
life threatening conditions and their families, but is just one of the
services developed out of the original hospice adult in patient unit
opened in 1985.
Trinity
Palliative Care Services offers a full and comprehensive range of
palliative care to all residents of the Fylde, supported by Blackpool,
Fylde and Wyre Primary Care Trusts in partnership with the local
community.
Services
include both adult and children in patient units, a Day Therapy Unit
catering for up to 15 patients a day, on a day a week basis. The
Palliative Care Team formerly known as Hospice at Home, is a team of 9
clinical nurse specialists caring and supporting patients in their own
homes and patients in Victoria Hospital.
Other
services include Lymphoedema specialist clinics for patients with
malignant and non malignant disease. Complementary Therapy Services for
both patients and their carers. A bereavement service to all families
suffering loss and bereavement of a Trinity patient.
As
well as the Education/Research Centre, Trinity being a satellite unit
of the Post Graduate School of Medicine and Health at the University of
Central Lancashire. The Linden Centre offers Information and Support
service with Counselling to both adults and children and young people.
In
order to give our patients the highest standard of care they need, the
hospice has to raise considerable sums of money each year from
voluntary sources. Patients and staff are most appreciative of the
support they receive from the community to enable the services to
continue and expand.
